Bridge building

We are visited by 9th and 10th-class pupils from state schools in the autumn. They receive a week’s teaching akin to 1st year STX/HF/Pre-IB level, and take part in any other events taking place during their visit. We are very pleased with our bridge-building visits that assist pupils in finding out whether or not HF, STX, or IB is for them.

Visits from State Schools

8th-class state school pupils from Grenaa and surrounding area take part in our introductory two or three-day STX courses. These visits take place from week 8 to week 25. The pupils are given a general introduction to Grenaa Gymnasium and to what is studied here from a student councellor.

While with us they are also taught in the subjects incorporated into the introductory STX course – naturally adapted for 8th class – so that they are able to find out who we are and how we work.

Exchange Students

Grenaa Gymnasium hosts a number of exchange students each year. These students come from all parts of the world and are here for a half or a whole school year. These students take part in lessons like all other students, but the majority of them start by going to Danish classes at “Sprogcentret” (The Language Centre).

They have private accommodation, and are on exchange via the Rotary or AFS that also send students from Grenaa Gymnasium to other countries. You can read more about the exchange student system on www.afs.dk and www.rotary.dk or contact Vagn Rohde if you want to take part in a student exchange.

Friendship school

Grenaa Gymnasium has a friendship gymnasium in Bedford near Boston with which we do exchange visits. The American school system is very different from the Danish school system and both schools benefit greatly from the visits. You can read more about the school on www.sau25.net/bedfordhigh.cfm
