SU – State Educational Support

You have to be 18 or over and an active student to receive this educational support – which can start from the beginning of the fi rst quarter after your 18th birthday. The support year coincides with the calendar year, the quarters beginning on 1st of January, 1st of April, 1st of September, and 1st of October.

You are responsible for your own SU so you need to be very aware of the rules and deadlines. You must also check that you do not receive more support than allowed in relation to your possible earnings.

Anyone who has not completed an upper secondary course earlier can receive support.The usual rule for young people under 20 years of age is to pay them support as if they lived at home.

If you live away from home before you are 20, it is sometimes possible to seek a dispensation – for example, if your parents’ home is 20 kms or more away from here. You can acquire an application form from http://www.su.dk/. Further information can be picked up at the school office.
