For those who have the desire and will to cultivate professional interests even more.
Many extra-curricular and social events take place at Grenaa Gymnasium and recently a new one was introduced when a FIFA computer game tournament was held a Friday afternoon. Haris Durakovic and Thomas McNally, both 3.u and organizers of the event, say that approximately 45 persons took part, 32 of them as players.
Haris explains that the tournament was played with two playstations and two screens, so that two matches were on at a time. Some of the matches, including the final, was shown on big screen and given engaging live commentary by Rasmus Tøtrup, 2.xw.
“I enjoyed it. Normally, you play by yourself at home against someone you do not know. Here you were playing against friends in the same room,” Oskar Karlsson, 2.us. “And the atmosphere was great.” Oskar won the tournament together with his classmate Kenan Zjajic. “It was the coolest thing to beat 2.t. And everyone had a good time.” Kenan says.
Co-organizer Thomas says that he and Haris have been quite busy up to the event making sure that the whole technical side of it would work. It turned out that many signed up and had to be put on a waiting list. “So now we’re planning to do it again some time in January,” Haris says. “We will probably make som ajustments, so that more get to play for a longer time. I myself was out after a few minutes,” he explains with a grin.
The next FIFA tournament will be announced at a morning assembly and on Facebook. Go for it, 2.t!
