For those who have the desire and will to cultivate professional interests even more.
On Thursday, April 14 2016 ten students and Visual Arts teacher Merete Christensen went to Horsens for this years drawing festival at Horsens Art Museum. Four schools took part in the drawing contest at the festival and competed in seven drawing disciplines. There was a student from each school in each discipline and the audience was able to follow the battle on screeens showing the pencils’ movements on the paper. There was a lot of cheering and excitement during each battle.
Art Communicator Jannik Broz lead the competition and was part of the jury together with the museum’s director, Claus Hagedorn Olsen. In some of the disciplines the rules were plain and fair, but in others they were completely unpredictable and crazy – just like life sometimes is – and thus trouble provoking! Grenaa Gymnasium came second in the competition.
The students from Grenaa Gymnasium had prepared for the competition through GG Explorer, Grenaa Gymnasiums talent development programme. Through ten intensive and focused drawing lessons at the school during the winter season they have not only improved their drawing skills, but also got acquainted with other students with motivation and talent for drawing. So the course has fullfilled two of GG Explorer’s prime goals: first, to give students the opportunity to become absorbed in topics and skills that interest them but is not covered in the curriculum, and second, to let them get together with students from different classes, years and programmes. In this case also other schools.
